Properties

Vegan, Biodegradable & Plastic-Free: MIRUM® is a 100% USDA Certified BioPreferred® leather alternative made entirely from bio-based ingredients. It contains no petroleum-based PU, PVC, or other synthetic plastics and is fully biodegradable.

Natural & Renewable Ingredients: MIRUM® is manufactured from FSC-certified natural rubber, plant oils, agricultural by-products (including cork, coconut husk, and other plant fibres), natural pigments, and mineral fillers. The formulation relies on renewable raw materials and avoids petroleum-derived components.

Natural Pigments & Safe Chemistry: Manufactured using natural, non-toxic, petroleum-free pigments and ingredients, without the use of hazardous chemicals.

Durability: ISO durability certifications are not currently available. However, MIRUM® has demonstrated reliable durability through commercial use by multiple brands and consistently positive long-term customer feedback within its recommended applications.

Transparent Supply Chain: Manufactured in Illinois, USA, using responsibly sourced renewable ingredients and supplied from a warehouse in Germany.

Finishes and Editions

MIRUM® is available in two finishes: Plain and Pebbled. It delivers the appearance of premium coated leather with a natural, non-plasticky hand feel and a neutral, natural scent. Best suited for structured bags, wallets, belts, accessories, and products featuring exposed top stitching. Due to its thickness and stiffness, it is not recommended for garments or designs requiring significant drape, heavy pleating, or high seam tension. Laser engraving is possible. Embossing and heat stamping are generally not recommended. Thickness: 1.2 mm; Backing: Lyocell jersey.
