Substanz for peel sphere showroom

Our collaboration with the German–Chinese material innovation start-up Peel Sphere began in 2023.

In 2026, the founder of Peel Sphere approached Substanz with a commission to design and produce a series of five bags: three exclusive Chinese New Year gifts for VIP clients, and two distinctive exhibition pieces for showrooms and international trade presentations.

The Flora Bag is crafted entirely from pure AlgaeSkin, without an inner mesh structure. Designed as a fully compostable piece, it was created to highlight the versatility of algal polymer materials and to translate the organic beauty and joy of the plant world into a sculptural form. Executed at a haute couture level, the design consists of more than 250 individually hand-sewn elements, making each piece highly intricate and unique.

The Flora Bag made its debut at APLF 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
