Substanz × Restaurant Wildner — Orange Fiber® Corporate Project
Substanz collaborated with Orange Fiber® to create a bespoke bandana-style scarf for the relaunch of Restaurant Wildner in Venice, combining textile innovation, custom illustration and Italian craftsmanship with the visual identity of the restaurant and hotel.
The Project
Created as part of the relaunch of Restaurant Wildner, the scarf was designed to complement the waiters’ uniforms while also serving as a promotional gift for selected clients of the restaurant and hotel.
The project brings together brand identity, textile design and material innovation, transforming the scarf into both a functional element of the staff wardrobe and a distinctive representation of the restaurant’s visual identity.
The colourways were developed around the restaurant’s corporate colours, creating a direct visual connection between the textile and the overall design language of Restaurant Wildner.
The Design
The artwork was developed by Substanz’s in-house illustrators and first hand-drawn in watercolour on paper. The original illustration was then digitised and transferred onto an Orange Fiber® blend, allowing the hand-drawn character of the artwork to be translated into a refined textile print.
The resulting design combines an artisanal, illustrated aesthetic with the versatility of a contemporary printed scarf, creating a piece that can move naturally between uniform, hospitality and client gifting applications.
Orange Fiber®
The scarves are printed on an Orange Fiber® blend, an innovative Italian textile incorporating Orange Fiber®, a branded Lyocell material developed from cellulose derived from citrus juice by-products.
Through its technology, citrus by-products from the juice industry are transformed into a textile fibre, giving new value to a resource that would otherwise be discarded.
For this project, the material provided a distinctive basis for translating Restaurant Wildner’s identity into a textile piece while reinforcing the project’s connection to Italian innovation and production.
Made in Italy
The scarf is fully made in Italy, from the fabric and printing to the final hemming.
Production was carried out in Italy, reflecting Restaurant Wildner’s own philosophy of sourcing exclusively from local Italian small farms and celebrating the value of local production, craftsmanship and Italian design.
The collaboration with Orange Fiber® and the Italian production process allowed the project to bring together material innovation, local craftsmanship and bespoke brand design in one finished piece.
A Textile Expression of Brand Identity
The Restaurant Wildner project demonstrates how bio-based textiles can be integrated into hospitality and corporate applications, extending a brand’s visual identity beyond traditional interiors and printed materials.
By combining bespoke illustration, Orange Fiber® and Italian craftsmanship, Substanz created a versatile textile piece that connects brand identity, hospitality, craftsmanship and material innovation — giving a new dimension to the restaurant’s relaunch in Venice.
The Orange Fiber® blend used for this project is suitable for scarves, twillies and lightweight garments and will soon be available through the Substanz platform, together with printing services.
