Substanz for Ana Pušica — Orange Fiber® Sauna Series

Substanz is proud to collaborate with renowned contemporary artist Ana Pušica on a collection of limited-edition Orange Fiber® scarves translating her paintings into wearable works of art.

Born in Valjevo, Serbia, and now based in Munich, Ana Pušica has spent more than a decade developing a distinctive artistic practice shaped by painting, experimentation and international exchange. She studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and has exhibited and participated in residencies across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the United States, with her work represented in collections including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Beijing.

Her practice explores the relationship between the human figure, emotion and contemporary life, often combining vivid colour with dreamlike, atmospheric compositions.

Sauna Series

The Sauna Series explores the intimacy and vulnerability of the human body within the unusual social environment of a sauna.

As Ana describes it, the sauna creates a rare space in which people are temporarily removed from the distractions of everyday life — without phones, music or the usual barriers between ourselves and others. Bodies become visible, differences become tangible, and questions surrounding shame, self-perception, cultural attitudes and our relationship with the body come to the surface.

In Ana’s paintings, these bodies appear pink, transparent and luminous, surrounded by soft, misty backgrounds. The result is an atmosphere that feels simultaneously intimate, mysterious and dreamlike.

The Collaboration

As part of the collaboration, Substanz presents two exclusive series of limited-edition scarves made with new generation textile Orange Fiber®, translating Ana’s paintings into collectible textile pieces.

The Sauna Series comprises three one-of-a-kind 90 × 90 cm carré scarves, each featuring a key painting from Ana’s Sauna collection. Every scarf is personally signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. These designs will never be reprinted.

The Best of Ana Series brings together two of the artist’s distinctive works in smaller, versatile formats. The collection includes 67 × 67 cm carré scarves, produced in editions of six per colour, and twilly scarves, produced in editions of nine per colour.

Each design is printed on Orange Fiber®, an innovative textile made from citrus by-products. The soft, biodegradable material brings together textile innovation and fine-art imagery, creating a distinctive medium for translating paintings into wearable objects.

Orange Fiber®

The designs are printed on Orange Fiber®, an innovative Italian textile made from cellulose extracted from citrus juice by-products. Through a patented process, the citrus by-products are transformed into a spinnable cellulose fibre, which is then made into a soft, lightweight textile for fashion and design.

The resulting fabric combines a refined, silky feel with the distinctive story of turning an industrial food by-product into a new textile resource. Orange Fiber® is particularly well suited to luxury fashion and creative applications, making it a natural medium for translating Ana Pušica’s paintings into wearable art.

Craftsmanship & Edition

All scarves are printed and handcrafted in Italy and presented in bespoke gift boxes designed by Berlin-based studio Maren Thomsen.

Each piece is accompanied by a hand-numbered, handwritten certificate of authenticity signed by Ana Pušica, giving every scarf its individual place within the limited edition.

The designs will never be reprinted, making the collection a meeting point between contemporary art, textile design and material innovation — created to be worn, collected and experienced beyond the gallery.

The collaboration demonstrates how biomaterials, sustainable materials and textile design can create new formats for contemporary art. By combining Ana Pušica’s original paintings with bio-based textile innovation, Substanz transforms artworks into limited-edition fashion pieces that connect art, craftsmanship and environmental fashion.
