Substanz for Revoltech — LOVR™ Accessories

This project explores the possibilities of LOVR™, Revoltech’s proprietary hemp-based material, developed to be fully compostable and rooted in circular design principles.

Substanz was invited to design four lines of three accessible, everyday accessories — a cardholder, laptop sleeve and glasses case — created around the material’s tactile qualities, structural properties and material integrity. The collection is intended to be commercially available through Revoltech.

The collection is expressed through two distinct design lines:

PURE

A clean, minimalist approach centred on function and material honesty.

PURE pieces are crafted entirely from solid LOVR™, with restrained detailing that allows the material’s natural surface, texture and structure to remain the focus.

RACE

A more playful interpretation inspired by the visual language of racing cars.

RACE combines perforated and solid LOVR™, introducing rhythm, lightness and visual movement while retaining the durability and structure required for everyday use.

Construction & Craftsmanship

Both laptop sleeves are lined with a hemp–bamboo fleece, selected to complement the hemp origins of LOVR™ while providing a naturally soft protective layer. The glasses cases are reinforced to retain their shape, while each cardholder features four functional pockets designed for everyday use.

All accessories are designed to be fully compostable, with the sole exception of the stitching thread, which is currently composed of a 50/50 cotton–polyester blend.

Each piece is hand-stitched and hand-finished, with polished edges and no edge paint. Leaving the edges free from surface coatings allows LOVR™ to age naturally, preserving the character of the material and placing craftsmanship and material integrity at the centre of the design.

The LOVR™ accessories collection demonstrates how material selection, product development and prototyping can translate innovative biomaterials and sustainable materials into functional everyday products. By combining hemp-based materials with thoughtful construction and minimal surface treatment, Substanz works with material innovators to explore practical bio-based alternatives and bring circular economy solutions into fashion and accessory design.
