Mother of Pearl / Prototype
This one-of-a-kind prototype was meticulously handcrafted from MATTR™, an innovative algal polymer developed by Revoltech.
The Mother of Pearl combines sculptural precision with delicate craftsmanship. Inspired by origami folding techniques, it was created following a zero-waste concept – folded from a single sheet of material, with every cutout transformed into smaller accessories such as a card holder, charm, and bracelet.
The material itself is soft, tactile, and naturally pearlescent, evoking the inner glow of a seashell. Fully biodegradable and containing no petroleum-based components, it represents a new generation of fashion biomaterials.
Materials:
MATTR™ by Revoltech – An algal polymer with a smooth, warm texture and unique inner shine.
Stainless Steel Hardware – Recyclable, corrosion-resistant, and long-lasting.
No synthetic linings or coatings – Preserving the material’s natural character.
The prototype was first presented during the Bio Living Lab exhibition at the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
